President Biden’s approval ratings continue to take a nosedive over his handling of the Afghanistan evacuation, with another national poll showing him falling 10 points, with approval now well below 50 percent.

Forty-one percent of Americans approve of the job the president is doing, and 55 percent disapprove, according to a USA Today/Suffolk University poll published on Tuesday.

Biden’s poll ratings began falling below 50 percent last week in the days after the Taliban took over amid the US military withdrawal.

The abrupt takeover by the extremist group sparked chaos at Kabul’s airport as thousands of Afghan civilians stormed the facility in a desperate effort to escape Taliban rule.

The survey, conducted Thursday through Monday, found 60 percent of Americans now say the US war in Afghanistan war wasn’t worth it.

The poll found that 53 percent of Americans backed the decision to leave Afghanistan after 20 years of war, but 62 percent disapproved of how the Biden administration handled the evacuation.

“Today, President Biden’s overall approval has taken a turn for the worse due to his awful job performance rating on Afghanistan,” said David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk Political Research Center.

“His approval on immigration and the economy are also upside down. The only issue keeping him remotely in the game is his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, where he is barely at 50 percent,” he added.

The survey showed that just 26 percent approved of Biden’s handling of the evacuation and only 39 percent approve of his management of the economy.

Slightly less than two-thirds of Americans — 62 percent — say former President George W. Bush is responsible for the war, which was launched in 2001 after al Qaeda’s terror attack on Sept. 11.

The poll says 73 percent of Americans believe that Afghanistan will once again become a safe haven for terror groups that want to attack the US or its allies, while 71 percent say the US government should not recognize the Taliban as legitimate rulers of Afghanistan.

And 84 percent said Afghans who worked as translators with the US military in Afghanistan and are at risk of reprisals by the Taliban should be eligible for special visas.

Seventy-nine percent of Republicans and 90 percent of Democrats support allowing those Afghans and their families into the US.

“How will the rest of the world view the American people if we can’t even help the people that helped us?” Albert Lopez, 37, a security guard and independent voter from Orange County, NY, told the pollsters.
